OCCULTER is Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons' first street-side retail destination. Inspired by a pantheon of fringe thinkers and risk-takers under the influence of the celestial spheres, designers Derrick R. Cruz and newcomer Christine Samar create a material experience that fans the spark of one basic human necessity: a personal sense of wonder.
OCCULTER is located at the center of New York’s burgeoning Lower East Side shopping and restaurant neighborhood (83 1/2 Orchard Street, 10002). Literally attached to the popular Vietnamese eatery An Choi, it's minimalist interior was designed in collaboration with architect and restaurant co-owner Huy Bui.
OCCULTER houses selected works from the Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons archive as well as pieces designed exclusively for the shop. The location will also host the unveiling of new collections and debut collaborations with other eclectic New York talents, starting with Bryan Collins (album cover designer for School of Seven Bells). Further enhancing the experience, patrons have an opportunity to take part in the designers’ inspiration via a curated selection of esoteric books (exclusive NYC retailer of Ouroboros Press) and music from labels the likes of Type, Taiga, Important and Sibling Sex Records (all for sale).

FALLING UP
I tripped on my shoelace And I fell up- Up to the roof tops, Up over the town, Up past the tree tops, Up over the mountains, Up where the colors Blend into the sounds. But it got me so dizzy When I looked around, I got sick to my stomach And I threw down.
Alice's Armor The costume design in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was incredible. I think my favorite is the suit of armor she wears to slay the Jabberwocky!
Étant donnés - (Given: 1. The Waterfall, 2. The Illuminating Glass) 1946-66 This is Marcel Duchamp's last major art work. It is a tableau, visible only through a pair of peep holes (one for each eye) in a wooden door. The last image shows the inner workings of the sculpture. Incredible.
"Night is here. All is at rest. My eyes close in order to see without actually understanding the dream that flees before me in infinite space; and I experience the languorous sensation produced by the mournful procession of my hopes."
